So I’m going to keep this brief, the union to me is fantastic, I mean I have a job there so- durrr.but it took me a while to get to this conclusion, as with anything new after a while you start to filter out what is good and bad and how to work the system if you will . So below are my tips and tricks for the union mmu!
- If you want a Starbucks, do not even think about going first thing the queue is lonnggggggg go are 11am or make sure you are first in at 9am.
- The Union bar food has significantly improved – I would recommend the sweet potato fries for sure oh! And another thing if buying from the shop or the bar I would recommend the yoyo wallet makes it a lot quicker to pay and means your caffeine fix or food arrive earlier – result. Also if you’re coming to watch a sports game ( big games are shown live on the bars big screen ) get her early and get one of the high tables, the shorter tables are right near the screen and you get seriousssssss neck ache
- When in the bar check the sauce bottles before taking them to your table and sitting down. Students like sauce and some are often mpty and, I mean, who wants to get up once they have already sat down, erm not me!
Another tip once you’re in the union its fab but the revolving door can be hard to get used to- top tip don’t try and walk to fast through it and don’t try and all pile it at once it will stop and will cause a face plant to the glass panel- trust me.done it.
A great part of the union is the hall in the day! It has gaming pods and table tennis tables free to use! Top tip is if you are waiting for a gaming pod or table tennis play a game of pool-the pool table is often free and needs some loving too.
THE UNION WEBSITE IS GOLD DUST. I must admit I did not visit it that much as a student but it has alllll the info on everything from sports societies volunteering events! its fab!
My final tip- if you need any help with any part of university life, come in to the students union, find an officer on the first floor and we can either help or direct you in the right place.
I hope you find these tips helpful in tackling the students union, it’s a fantastic place and it’s a place for all students at MMU so at least come in and give the revolving door a go!
