My Jubilee Time Capsule date is Christmas Day 1980, a momentous day because SANTA him very self bought me my first ever camera. I can't for the life of me remember the make or model but I know that it was long and slim and not at all camera shaped. I also remember that the film was sealed in a tube that looked like plastic opera glasses and it all felt very sophisticated indeed.
PHOTO ONE: After the excitement of Christmas stockings my sister and I took to the streets and below is the first ever photo I took - a slightly paparazzi style ambush of my sister hijacking my best friend Emma.
PHOTO TWO: Anyone who has siblings will relate to the second photo. My sister couldn't bear that I had something that she didn't so she insisted on having a go. I of course didn't trust her to know what she was doing. The result? A blurred photo of me running at the camera screaming at my sister that she was doing it all wrong. She wasn't....
PHOTO THREE: ...but peace was restored when my sister got bored with camera and left me snapping - this time photos of her in her special Christmas present. And I've been snapping ever since.
So, 25th December 1980 - a momentous day as it was the starting point of a lifelong passion for photography.
