Lady talks about dog walks to Longford Park, her love of the outdoors and wildlife.
Please Report the Errrors?
Yeah.
So Yeah. Hi. Do you want to say a little bit about who you are and why?
Why you come to the park?
Well,
you don't have to say anything about who you are.
Actually, I don't know why I said that.
Yeah, I just come to the park. Well, take the dogs out, and I just love coming out
to the greenery and trees and even water park and all over the place.
I used to be a Rambler,
so I
was always walking all over the house. I just love it.
Yeah, I find it relaxing. And
the dogs? It's dogs now in it. So
they make you come out to the park.
This is a
This
is
Zeus with his pink colour on.
So do you Come, you come regularly, then with the dog.
You've been coming in now for about 12 years. I'd say.
I mean, I've been through it before, but like you say,
it was just a little power When you were
younger and fitter.
I did a lot bigger walks. Yeah.
So it's
It's just nice. Now. It's just lovely to get out. And I just love all the trees
and the wild bit over there is nice. You know what I mean?
I love everything about it's quite a good size park
and you've got the pets corner
the gardens
and then you've got the all the space around it. It's lovely. With the sports centre.
It's all you know, brings a lot of people into the park.
And since cafes open, that's become very popular now as well.
The stone for the dog.
Brilliant. You've got You've got free dog care.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You You might
jump,
right.
She's not
pretty fearless, I think. What? We'll see.
Yeah,
so So, um,
have you So you you've been coming here about 12 years.
Have you seen much change in that time or
in
terms of the park or
Well, it's the,
you know, with the golf links has changed. Yeah. Yeah, that's changed.
A great That looks really good. I think I think it's a great improvement. Now.
I'm not too mad for the
baby.
It's a popular thing in it the dicks thing.
But, uh, yeah, no, it's It's really nice in there now,
but you've got a lot of flooding going on in when it gets really bad.
and, uh,
the amount of time to come out and fix it. And then it's buggered up again. It's just
And then the flooding over there as well. That's a
that can be a nightmare.
But other than that, it's a It's a real nice plan.
Bigger than
a park. I like all the parks. So, to be honest,
it's just Yeah,
it's just getting out in it.
What would you say was most important to you about the green spaces or the parks or
just having a nice big
space and wildlife? I'm a wildlife
Don't
start.
I said they'd want to tell their story as well.
Sorry.
That's
so loud.
Yeah.
Sorry.
You're right. I'm shouting at him to shut up.
Yeah. Where was it? The wildlife. Oh, yeah. The wildlife. Yeah, it's just great.
Yeah, you got Well, I just love the green space.
Could do with a pond somewhere, though. You know what I mean?
It would be nice if you put that pond back in the garden.
Yeah,
because for me and I don't see the point when you have all these flood in these lakes
and yet they don't have a pond or you mean, this pond there? It's not.
It's half empty.
And it
is,
you know, and I think the one
in in the summer time, I think you should have some water for birds and rus
to cool down. And especially with the waves that we're having, you know?
Well, I just love
and I'm an outside person, you
know,
like,
Yeah, I just
like that sort of thing
growing.
Yeah.
Does it get busy here as well, then?
Oh, we got manic in there with the covid. Jesus. It was a chocolate block.
It was awful.
I didn't like it.
No, you couldn't get around it with the bikes, runners, everybody out with the kids.
And then you all congregate. Well, not cheap in the distance.
But you all come in the park in there.
So all the fields were all taken up with people that come with the chairs,
a little tent and everything.
And then if they started eating the dogs
nightmare,
but yeah. No, it is nice. I know that
should be pleased about,
but I'm glad
they've gone.
Sorry. No, no, no.
I am glad they're gone because it's, you know,
for me in the day It's nice and peaceful.
It's to get away from me.
Yeah,
so that's important for you then
that quiet away from space.
I
listen to the radio, you
know,
and it's on it just
it's just
a
You know, you
look at your phone and he's always some murder or something
or something.
You never used to be like that.
Well, we don't know whether it did or we just didn't hear about it.
That's stabbing. I don't know about that.
I don't think it was that.
Yeah, I really I don't think it was that. It would be big news.
Dixon and dot Green would be having
a
anymore. So you know, it's different now. It's a lot busier in it,
and then you've got a major
city, which is like
being in the middle of New York,
and I went into town the other day and all these islands flats everywhere. Yeah,
it's just the
change. Changing quick. Yeah,
so So in terms of the kind of quite space or the peaceful, tranquil side of it for you,
is there anything that that they could improve or do differently around the park?
I just think we we could have more ponds and and if
bank goes for any, you know
you need to have a wild section
and they haven't done that. They said they were going to do a bit there. They either
it off, but we keep cutting over it, so it's not
it,
and it will be no replacement for
bank. I know that's not the part, but
it is to me because I always go over there. You know what I mean?
It's the best bit, really, in a way, because you don't get too many over there.
It yeah, because it's slightly cut off, isn't it from the rest of it? And it's wild.
So it's nice for the dogs and
we have the wildlife all together. Get the birds and everything
and the tree,
and I've been given a flower look.
Ah, is there anything else you would like to say about?
Can't
think of anything else?
I just
like the park. I
don't know, really, I I'll be walking around now, thinking, Why do we like the
park?
That's good, isn't it? Because it just it just makes us think, doesn't it?
Do we appreciate?
I do appreciate it, though I do appreciate the outside
space. That's why I mean, I was a Rambler and just get away for the weekend.
Every weekend
I was away. It's like
a real
release of tension. It's like a little holiday.
Yeah, it's lovely.
Brings you back, refreshed it so yeah. No, I've always loved me here.
The trees and
the hills and everything. I just love everything about it.
All the wildlife, love everything.
I mean, I think most people do. I mean, I like to think most people do.
Yeah, you know,
I was I don't know what they could do to improve the department.
I mean, the, uh,
tennis courts
do we be fencing up?
But other than that,
I don't know. No,
it
looks fine to me.
Oh, except for the flooding and that.
But I don't know. That's
you don't seem to be able to do, uh
unless it's money. Of course that you can't fix it. I don't know. He's all right.
He won't buy.
Yeah.
Yeah. Oh, thank you. Yeah. It's not a problem.
No, it's good. Thank you. Rachel.
