WECIL Highlights Part 2
Please Report the Errrors?
Hello Billy.
Uh,
what we got on the uh the work with the organ.
Uh,
so
my highlighter with the organisation was going to,
um,
Bristol Jamayah Mosque,
um,
and
witnessing prayer during Ramadan.
Um,
I felt really,
me and the team felt really privileged,
uh,
to,
to be there and,
uh.
Be involved in prayer as that was going on.
And I think the biggest learning curve from us is
the cultural element of what we were doing and providing that support
because they were implementing a new accessible toilet on um
on either the,
the male and female side
and um also wanted access from um a you know a a high gradient level
and being able to
understand that they had,
men and women had separate sides and
obviously they need the same facilities.
So it was yeah,
a massive,
massive
um you know,
cultural understanding from us and
we're just was that the only
island,
was that the only island
or was there any
anymore?
Yes,
um so er with this project it brought forth
um visiting a lot of different types of organisations.
So we also went to go and see
um one of the scouts.
um and
yeah,
that was very,
very interesting cos
we'd never been involved with scouts before
and um
yeah,
kind of seeing the space and how.
They engage with um what they want you.
uh so they were making changes to er if I remember rightly,
they were making changes to their pathways.
um
and um yeah,
they wanted us to support them with uh implementing that.
um,
also some of the youth centres.
Uh,
were very,
very interesting as well
and seeing,
uh,
you know,
the development of their space,
uh,
so there is a lot and then I get the book and go,
yes,
yeah,
yeah,
definitely.
Go get you in the in boo I get the.
Yes,
yes,
so um for instance,
an example of that was
uh with
um er Meadow Valeer Community Centre where um
they were looking at implementing a new accessible um car park.
Um,
and work is gonna continue from that because
during that visit they've identified other areas
which they need to improve their access,
so,
um,
we're actually gonna be doing an access audit for them
shortly so they can have a long term plan,
um,
to make changes to other areas within the centre.
I go by you very much.
