Improving the Lives of Older People (ILOP) is a friendly, community-led group run by and for people over the age of 55 in South Bristol. Our aim is simple - to reduce loneliness and isolation by creating welcoming spaces where people can connect, share experiences, try new things and feel part of their community.
We know that staying active and connected can have a huge impact on confidence, wellbeing and quality of life. That’s why ILOP offers a range of fun, supportive weekly activities designed to help older adults feel valued, included and inspired and all of our activities are completely free to attend.
Our Talk & Tech sessions provide relaxed, friendly support with smartphones, tablets and laptops. Whether you want help sending emails, using WhatsApp, booking appointments online or simply gaining confidence with technology, volunteers are there to help at your own pace.
Alongside this, our Playful Moves sessions combine gentle movement, drama games, storytelling and creative activities in a fun and social environment. The sessions are designed to encourage balance, movement, confidence, laughter and connection - no experience needed.
Both projects are completely welcoming, informal and open to all over 55s, with no pressure to join in beyond what feels comfortable.
At ILOP we believe community matters. Through friendship, creativity and shared experiences, we’re helping older adults stay connected, active and supported - because nobody should feel alone in their community.
