What programme did you use in One You Lincolnshire, and what year was it?
I attended Gloji Groups in 2024.
Can you give a brief description of your programme?
Gloji Groups is a holistic and person-centred approach to supporting individuals with weight management. Gloji is a 12-week course in which a group of individuals will meet via Teams or in person once a week, discussing different aspects of living. These aspects of living include diet, movement, sleep hygiene, routines and many more, all contributing to weight management. The purpose of the Gloji groups is to empower, educate and motivate individuals to change their lifestyle, which will ultimately help with the weight loss journey.
What did you think of your time with One You Lincolnshire?
My experience with One You Lincolnshire has been one I will remember forever. I am fortunate to have learned how my previous lifestyle has negatively impacted my weight loss. Before the group, I was unaware of micronutrients and different food groups and how each is essential for good health and promoting weight loss. Furthermore, the group approach helped me engage as we all supported each other and provided guidance on what went well and what didn’t.
What did you enjoy?
I enjoyed the group approach as we could all support each other through the 12-week process. I also enjoyed the physical aspect of having a Gloji journal and being able to track my progress. In addition to the journal, I enjoyed utilising the Gloji online gym and Gloji recipes. The Gloji gym helped me engage in different exercises and explore various exercises I never thought I would try and enjoy. The Gloji recipe book has helped me explore different eating methods and opened my eyes to different food combinations. This has helped me learn to cook, and I have also really enjoyed this. Since then, I have been cooking and making meals from scratch, positively impacting my weight loss journey.
What is your core memory?
A core memory is the 1% progress experiments I managed to engage in weekly and continue to practice to this day. Changing or adding one small thing each day has helped me change my lifestyle in the long term. Over time, my lifestyle has gradually improved and helped me develop a better version of myself.
Why do you think Integrated Health and Wellbeing services like One You Lincolnshire are beneficial for the community and for primary and secondary care? Who benefits from it the most?
Having free and accessible access to health and wellbeing services is essential to improving lives. Providing individuals with guidance and education about lifestyle choices allows them to feel empowered and in control of their transition. This ultimately will enable individuals to improve their overall health, decreasing the need to attend primary and secondary care services and relieving immense pressure. Therefore, integrated health and wellbeing services should have the appropriate funding to continue providing the services to promote healthy lifestyles and reduce primary and secondary care attendances.
