I have been at People's Voice Media for 5 days for my work experience placement and thoroughly enjoyed my time here. My task for this week was the creation of 6 equipment reviews; from initial storyboards to final editing. Throughout the course of the week I have learnt many new skills including filming, editing on 'imovie', creating sounds on 'GarageBand' and editing images on 'Gimp'. This has taught me a lot about how media is used and the benefits of a range of programmes for a variety of functions. Before my placement here I rarely used media in this context and it is often presumed young people know how to and do use media and technology to create something to benefit others. However not everybody has the opportunities or teachers to allow such usage of media, hence why Community Reporter has been so useful to me this week and why I will continue to use the surplus of media available. I have been taught how to use imovie to a high standard in order to create suitable and professional looking films as well as learning a lot about social media in general; how it can be used, created, adapted and the necessity of it to our everyday lives.

The past week's experience has been an incredibly valuable experience and very beneficial to me and I am certain the skills I have gained will be useful in the future and hope that Community Reporter is something I will continue to be involved in.
