Community Reporters Meet Up: Thursday 29 September 2011
(Here's David, trying to figure out how to put the screen 'right')
We met in a lovely church, in Salford, near the centre of Manchester to discuss a whole range of exciting schemes! We were equipped with biscuits, tea, coffee, excitement and a comfy seat in which looked liked a 70's cafe diner. First of all, there's the new projects we could all get involved in. The top project I'd say is the Jubilee project (if you're thinking 'oooh, I wonder what that is' then I think you must take part. If it sparks curiosity then come find out! Of course the Jubilee, is a project to do with the queen, but your involvement, lets say you decide to submit a film or a story, etc, it does not have to be about the queen, it is more about the date. If I have left you confused, or as I'd like to say 'curious' then contact Michelle for more info and get involved:

Oh yes, and the best bits of film, story, media wins prize(s)!
There was another project to do with the Central Library. I love libraries. I can imagine the new designs of it will be highly modern. I am looking forward to noseying around and chatting to the librarian lovers and the people around the area... even the builders, but if I have to lift hammers and drills - then I demand they pay me! - Hah, only joking!
I am sure there was another project too, my memory is not the best. But, apart from the projects we ALSO got filled in on the new courses. There's lots of new courses. I was ineterested in the 'how to make your CV into a video' - which nowadays suits the computer world we live in.
I think if anyone is reading this that's not a reporter yet, but very much wants to yet may need help on the technical side - then enquire about the courses, come learn and then get reporting.
I am very happy to be reporting, you can engulf on great opportunities. My last report was interviewing my favourite animator, Cyriak. I have always wondered what he would be like, his interests, his mind, and being a reporter I could feel happy in sending him a message, asking if I could ask a few questions (a 'sweet sixteen' amount) and then, I could publish it online on the community reporting site.
- End of my happy rant about that!
But, ALSO! The Essence Newsletter !! Sounds great! Yes, gives the chance for all of us to get our words, views, images published and through the letterboxes of 10,000 locals - what an amazing way to spread the news!
There was lots of different people at the meeting, different ages, different interests but we all had a passion for the community and media, which made a "great team" of a meting.
Also, the hobnobs were delicious. Thanks to Michelle for picking them out!
p.s. That wallpaper really does (literally) take over the screen>>
