As part of a collaborative research project between people from racialised communities, London School of Economics and Equality Trust, Jennifer shares her insights into what is wealth, what helps and hinders people from racialised communities to build wealth and what could make a difference. The research was funded by the British Academy Innovation Fellowship Scheme (Fellowship number IF2324/24008). You can find the summary briefing from this project and any further information from www.equalitytrust.org.uk

The storyteller mentioned the standard of living, being comfortable and having choices is what wealth meant to her. Quality of access to education and opportunities. Some people had help from parents and had access to the property ladder from previous generations. There are certain communities such as the Caribbean who could afford to buy properties in the 1960s but their children couldn't afford with their low-income. They already sold to middle and upper classes. She offered some solutions to the choices.
